What to pack for your puppy’s stay at The Snuggle Shack

Getting ready to leave your pup in someone else’s care can be a little nerve-wracking! We understand and we get it. That’s why we’ve made it our mission at The Snuggle Shack to make your dog feel as close to home as possible. But a great stay starts with the right suitcase (or duffel bag full of drool-covered toys. That’s right we don’t judge).
Here’s a simple guide to help you pack everything your furry friend needs for a comfortable, tail-waggin’ time with us!
- Their Regular Food (with Feeding Instructions)
Sticking to their usual food avoids tummy troubles while they’re away from home. Pack enough for their stay, plus a little extra just in case, and let us know about portion sizes and mealtimes. We want their stay to feel like home.
- Treats (Optional, but Encouraged!)
If your pup has a favorite snack or training treat, toss some in! We love rewarding good behavior and giving them a little extra love. If you don’t mind us using our own let us know.
- Medications (If Needed)
We’re happy to administer medications — just be sure they’re labeled clearly with instructions. Bonus points for packing them in a pill organizer or zip-top bag for easy access.
- A brush (We can thank Peanut for the reminder)
If you want your dog brushed daily bring his/her brush along. Peanut is one of our long-term boarder and he loves the extra attention with his own brush.
- A Favorite Toy or Two
Bringing a familiar toy or comfort item can help ease any anxiety your dog may feel. Just make sure it’s something you’re okay with getting a little slobbered on!
- Bed or Blanket (If You’d Like)
We provide comfy bedding, but you’re welcome to bring a blanket or small bed that smells like home. Just note that it might come back with a little more “character” than it left with. Long-term boarders can bring their own crate if they feel more comfortable.
- Leash and Collar with ID Tag
Please make sure your pup arrives on a leash and has a secure collar with ID tags attached. Safety first always. However at The Shack our guest do get to run freely.
- Any Special Instructions
Does your pup have a quirky bedtime routine? Fear of thunderstorms? Let us know! We want to do everything we can to make their stay feel safe and familiar. Don’t forget to ask for one of our get to know your dog sheets.
What Not to Pack:
- Rawhide chews (we’ve found these can be a choking hazard)
- Bowls (we’ve got plenty and keep everything sanitized)
- Anything too precious to lose (accidents happen!)
At The Snuggle Shack, we treat every guest like family but nothing beats the comfort of a few familiar items from home. Packing thoughtfully helps us make your pup’s stay as smooth (and snuggly) as possible!
Got questions? Reach out any time before your booking we’re here to help.
Soon we hope to offer a Pet to Vet service if your pup needs a ride to their appointment during their stay.
We can’t wait to welcome your furry family member into our pack!
